The grain is straight, and the texture is somewhat fine. It is slightly lightweight and easy to work with. It has extremely high decay resistance, especially strong against moisture. Excellent in decay resistance. Uses: Custom materials, building materials, furniture materials, water-related materials, ship materials, cabinets, wood patterns, musical instrument materials. In Japan, it is used as a substitute for Hiba. Caution: It is named American Hiba because its color and fragrance are similar to Aomori Hiba, but academically, it belongs to the Chamaecyparis genus. The wood has a characteristic odor, which is particularly strong when fresh.
