Our company is capable of directly applying hard chrome plating to aluminum materials. Aluminum is a material that is very prone to oxidation, and it is covered by a strong oxide film formed by its reaction with oxygen in the air. To apply plating, it is necessary to remove this oxide film, which is done through treatments such as activation. However, because the oxide film can reform through rinsing or immersion in plating solutions, it becomes a material that is difficult to plate. One common method for generating plating is to replace the surface layer of aluminum with a zinc film, which allows for nickel plating to be applied afterward. Among these methods, our company can directly apply hard chrome plating to the base aluminum material. The photo shows hard chrome plating applied to an A5000 series product, where a thick plating (approximately 0.1mm) was directly applied to the base material and then polished to a surface roughness of about Ra0.1.
