• Software (middle, driver, security, etc.)

PID control refers to a control method used for applications such as temperature control. After setting a target value, it reads the current value with a sensor and automatically adjusts to get closer to the target value. For example, consider the issues with traditional on-off operation. A familiar example is the bimetallic electric kotatsu. In the on-off operation of the electric kotatsu, the temperature rises to 100% output until it reaches the target temperature, and then it drops to 0% when it exceeds the set temperature, causing the temperature to decrease. However, this often leads to overshooting or undershooting from the target temperature, resulting in a control outcome that oscillates and does not achieve ideal temperature regulation. While the simplicity of the structure allows for a cost-effective setup, these issues also exist. A light sensor is a device that detects light and converts it into an electrical signal. The basic mechanism of a light sensor involves detecting incoming light and, depending on its intensity and wavelength, demonstrating various responses at a part called the light-receiving element, which converts it into an electrical signal. Additionally, when combined with a light-emitting element, it can detect various states based on the transmission or reflection of light. Next, the operating principle of a light sensor is to detect various information based on the magnitude of the current generated when light is incident on the light-receiving element. In the case of a photodiode being used as the light-receiving element, when light is incident, photons generate and separate electrons and holes within the semiconductor, producing a current in the external circuit. Since the current changes in proportion to the intensity of the light, the strength of the light can be measured electrically. This document introduces the applications and examples of light sensors.
