The ZONEX enclosure is designed and approved to meet the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC and IECEx standards for safety-enhanced explosion-proof enclosures when housing electrical components within the Zone 2 application range.

It complies with the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC and IECEx standards regarding increased safety explosion-proof types when housing electrical components in Zone 1 and Zone 2 applications.

When used in locations defined as Class 2, Division 1 and 2, where combustible dust is present, according to Article 500 of the U.S. Electrical Code.

The HOFFMAN company's Ex[pz] purge system is designed and certified in accordance with the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC and EN60079-2, which are required by Europe for Type Ex[pz] applications. The ATEX-certified Ex[pz] purge system reduces the classification of protected enclosures from Zone 2 to non-hazardous, allowing the use and operation of general-purpose equipment within the protected enclosure. When used as a Type Y purge, it reduces the classification from Div. 1 to Div. 2. In the case of Type Z purge, it reduces the classification from Div. 2 to non-hazardous.

The large volume purge/pressurization system supplies protective glass to one or more enclosures with a total volume of up to 90 cubic feet, allowing the use of general-purpose enclosures in specific Class 1, Division 1 and 2 hazardous areas.

Purge and pressurization are protection methods used for enclosures of Type 4, 4X, and 12 (IP54 or higher recommended). The enclosure is first purged to remove any explosive gases or dust from the interior. Once that is complete, protective air or inert gas is supplied to pressurize the enclosure. This creates positive pressure inside the enclosure, preventing external explosive gases and dust from entering. The purge and pressurization methods we offer are two types: leak compensation and continuous flow.

The explosion-proof area window kit is designed for use in hazardous areas classified as Zone 1 or 2 according to ATEX or IECEx standards, specifically for safety increased explosion-proof enclosures (Ex e). These window kits are made with a robust thick stainless steel 316 frame and a silicone gasket, ensuring dust-proof, oil-tight, and waterproof sealing. They are designed to be used as inspection windows, allowing easy installation of the window by attaching it with the included mounting hardware to check the internal enclosure components.
