In 1879, when Thomas Edison invented the incandescent light bulb in America, it coincided with the founding year of Nagata, which was the 12th year of the Meiji era, and both are related to "bamboo." Edison, who first lit a bulb with a bamboo filament, said, "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration," but Nagata's business also began with the founder Daisuke Nagata's inspiration of "Could bamboo be sold abroad?" For 138 years since then, with honesty as our motto, we have engaged with different cultures, and our network of transactions has expanded worldwide. Despite being buffeted by the recurring storms of war, natural disasters, and economic fluctuations, our activities have continued, transforming from Nagata of bamboo to Nagata of automobiles, and from Nagata of automobiles to Nagata of engines, thereby broadening our market.
