We would like to introduce "gravure printing." This technology is a type of intaglio printing method. Ink is placed in the recessed areas that form the image lines, and after scraping off the ink from the non-image areas with a doctor blade, it is transferred. The depth of the recesses adjusts the amount of ink, allowing for the expression of gradation, which enables the depiction of fine shades. Additionally, a notable feature is its ability to print clearly on substrates with good surface smoothness. In Japan, our founder, Sadayuki Fujimura, manufactured our own rotary intaglio printing machine and researched and developed inks that form the basis of the current water-based flexo inks. Here is an introduction to "Flexo Printing." This technology is a type of relief printing. It uses flexible and elastic plates as the material for the printing plate, and instead of using an ink transfer method like offset printing with inking rollers, it employs finely meshed engraved rollers (anilox rollers) to achieve uniform transfer.
