PixelPaint consists of a printer head equipped with over 1,000 individually controllable small nozzles, which will be mounted on ABB painting robots such as the IRB 5500. By combining ABB's 3D vision system with ABB's simulation and programming software, RobotStudio, the head perfectly follows the contours of the vehicle body, ensuring that paint is applied 100% accurately without overspray or mist. This eliminates the need for labor-intensive masking work and multiple painting processes, allowing for zero paint loss while ensuring precise reproduction of fine details. ABB announced today that it will invest \$280 million to expand its manufacturing base in Europe by establishing a state-of-the-art ABB Robotics European Campus in Västerås, Sweden. This campus will serve as the hub for ABB Robotics in Europe, providing customers with collaborative robots and industrial robots powered by AI, as well as digital solutions that support flexible automation as part of the company's "Local for Local" production strategy.
