The abnormal sign detection system for production equipment, "SCOPE," is a device designed to monitor primarily vibrations and to establish an operational framework that allows the site to operate autonomously. No matter how high-performance a system is implemented, equipment without sensors cannot be monitored, leading to a contradiction in the field where there is a responsibility to manage everything but no means to keep an eye on it. Therefore, instead of a high-end system, we shifted our thinking towards mass installation to eliminate gaps in the field. We intentionally adopted inexpensive commercial sensors and proved the practicality of capturing "minor defects before abnormal sounds." • Other operation management software

The SCOPE sensor is both inexpensive and designed for low power consumption. While I cannot provide details due to proprietary information, we achieve long battery life without sacrificing sensitivity through the use of special modes and careful consideration of calculation methods. Specifically, we have achieved a battery life of around three years (with individual variations) through measurements taken every five minutes. In contrast, many other wireless vibration sensors typically measure once a day, making high-frequency measurements like those of SCOPE impractical from a battery life perspective. • Sensors

The SCOPE sensor costs 4,000 yen per unit and uses an inexpensive Raspberry Pi as the edge device. However, being inexpensive alone does not enable a small start. It is important to easily purchase and increase the number of sensors. The SCOPE sensor has a magnet embedded in its case, and measurement begins simply by attaching it to a (steel) bearing part. • Sensors

It is a monitoring system using wireless sensing that can be built at an overwhelmingly low cost. It can utilize a variety of sensors centered around vibration. As a result of achieving low power consumption while maintaining sufficient sensitivity to detect abnormal signs, it has achieved a battery life of about three years with measurements taken every five minutes (using a CR2032 button battery). It is possible to start small with a low-cost investment and gradually increase the number of sensors to improve the reliability of the entire line.

"SCOPE" is an equipment monitoring system that captures abnormal signs of machinery and provides condition-based maintenance (CBM, predictive maintenance) at an overwhelmingly low cost. We will introduce a case where the introduction of 'SCOPE', which we handle at our company, at a pharmaceutical company led to reductions in maintenance costs and labor costs. During the air conditioning inspection conducted by a specialized company in the second half of 2023, urgent maintenance was proposed for seven units. However, after the introduction of SCOPE, it was determined that six out of the seven units did not require maintenance. Additionally, during the air conditioning inspection in the first half of 2024, due to the prior sharing of information about SCOPE, only one unit was proposed for urgent maintenance, and that unit was also one that did not have a sensor installed.
