Since the 1970s, as a measure against red water in buildings constructed after that period, the Ministry of Construction has guided the increased use of PVC-lined pipes instead of white gas pipes (zinc-coated steel pipes). Furthermore, from the 1980s to the present day in 2002, many buildings, apartments, and general residences have experienced occurrences of red water every morning. As a result, in various housing complexes, investigations were conducted by removing the water supply pipes to examine corrosion inside the pipes. The Nagoya City M Century Mansion, after 27 years since its construction, began to have red water coming from the taps.
