The EP-ROM used in the PMC of FANUC CNC series 0, 15, 16, 10, and 11 (such as 0M, 0T, 15M-A, 15T-A, 16M-A, 16T-A, 10M, 11M, etc.), which employs EP-ROM type prior to Flash-ROM, is prone to ROM failures due to parity errors and data errors after more than 20 years. If the data on the PMC-ROM is lost, FANUC cannot restore it, and most machine manufacturers lack maintenance equipment, drawings, and data, as well as experienced personnel, making it difficult to restore the machine. The replacement of the control unit proposed by the manufacturer incurs costs in the millions, and the operation and adjustment methods will also change, leading to prolonged machine downtime until recovery. It is crucial to proactively create a backup copy of the PMC-ROM before the machine stops functioning. Additionally, even if the ROM fails before the backup, it may still be possible to read and restore the ROM data. We recommend trying our ROM recovery service before immediately replacing the control unit. Even if the ROM is completely damaged, it is often possible to restore it by manually inputting data if drawings are available.
