Free membership registrationThe era in which "caregiving is something women do" has lasted for a long time, and even now in the Reiwa period, that mindset has not completely disappeared. On the other hand, the proportion of male caregivers is approaching 40%. We will unravel the changes in caregiving by men and women through history. Additionally, both male and female caregivers have their own characteristics. While there are individual differences, understanding one's strengths and weaknesses can make caregiving easier. As a male caregiver, I will discuss my thoughts on caregiving by gender and why we have come to separate caregiving into male and female categories, as well as provide a detailed explanation of the needs and background of this theme in companies and local governments.

Free membership registrationWhat would you do if your parent living far away suddenly collapsed and needed care? Would you bring your parent to your home, quit your job to return to your hometown to provide care, or place your parent in a nursing facility? Some people make hasty decisions in such situations. When the instructor's grandmother collapsed due to cervical cancer and her mother simultaneously developed dementia, the chosen method was long-distance caregiving. For over 11 years, she has been providing care from a distance between Iwate and Tokyo, opting for home care rather than a facility. This presentation will introduce seven patterns of caregiving for parents living far away and will explain in detail how to deal with the troubles of long-distance caregiving. Instructor: Hiroshi Kudo (Dementia Caregiver and Dementia Life Partner Level 2) Since 2012, the instructor, who lives in Tokyo, has been providing home care for her mother, who has dementia and a difficult illness (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease), traveling to Iwate Prefecture. Along the way, she also cared for her grandmother with dementia (requiring care level 3) and her father with malignant lymphoma (requiring care level 5) until their passing. Her caregiving experiences and innovations have been featured in many media outlets, including NHK's "News 7" and "Asaichi."

Free membership registrationIt is said that it is better to leave caregiving to professionals and that caregiving should be done by people with love." However, the instructor of this course actively utilizes IoT (Internet of Things) devices and tools while relying on the expertise of caregiving professionals to monitor and care for their parents. In this course, we will explain the steps to rely on caregiving professionals and the reasons why IoT devices and tools are necessary for caregiving and monitoring. We will share the know-how of how to monitor and care for a mother with dementia who continues to live alone in her family home in Iwate Prefecture, using IoT devices and tools from afar in Tokyo for over 10 years. By utilizing IoT devices and tools, we will learn caregiving wisdom that allows us to avoid leaving our jobs due to caregiving and to provide care without overexerting ourselves. Instructor: Hiroshi Kudo (Certified Dementia Caregiver & Level 2 Dementia Life Partner) The instructor, who lives in Tokyo, has been providing home care for their mother with dementia and a rare disease (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease) since 2012, traveling to Iwate Prefecture. Along the way, they also cared for and witnessed the passing of their grandmother with dementia (requiring care level 3) and their father with malignant lymphoma (requiring care level 5). The caregiving experiences and innovations have been featured in many media outlets, including NHK's "News 7" and "Asaichi.

Free membership registrationA survey has found that one in two employees who start caregiving ends up resigning without consulting anyone. Why do they leave the company without discussing it with anyone? The reasons lie on both the company side and the employee side. In this course, we will introduce the causes and countermeasures of caregiving-related resignations from each perspective. We will also consider what needs to be done to balance caregiving and work, while sharing the instructor's experiences of resigning twice due to caregiving. Free membership registrationAccording to a survey by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in 2016, the leading cause of needing care has become dementia. Many people hold a biased image that if a parent develops dementia, they must quit their job to care for them at home, or they have no choice but to place them in a care facility, or they become unable to do anything. Based on my experience of caring for my mother with dementia for over 11 years, this course will clearly explain the realities of dementia care that are not textbook-based, as well as essential knowledge to know, such as how to rely on care professionals and information about care costs. The aim is to acquire basic knowledge about dementia and the long-term care insurance system. Instructor: Hiroshi Kudo (Dementia Caregiver and Dementia Life Partner Level 2) Since 2012, the instructor, who lives in Tokyo, has been providing home care for his mother in Iwate Prefecture, who suffers from dementia and a difficult illness (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease). Along the way, he also cared for and saw off his grandmother with dementia (requiring care level 3) and his father with malignant lymphoma (requiring care level 5). His caregiving experiences and innovations have been featured in many media outlets, including NHK's "News 7" and "Asaichi."
