Since oil does not flow directly over the scale section, it is easy to read the scale. It can be installed in any orientation, either vertically or horizontally. The standard type can handle temperatures up to 116°C, but we also offer high-temperature "H" series and ultra-high-temperature "J" series. Additionally, we have a dedicated "P" series for aircraft hydraulic fluids. The scale for oil has been pre-calibrated based on a specific gravity of 0.873 and a viscosity of 40 mm²/s, so conversion from the water scale is unnecessary. Particularly at high temperatures, the viscosity of oil decreases, leading to significant leaks with conventional gear meters, raising concerns about accuracy at low viscosity. This is because conventional gear meters conduct flow tests at the time of shipment at viscosities of 20 to 30 mm²/s. Volumetric flow meters struggle with low-viscosity fluids and require a certain level of viscosity to ensure accuracy. The viscosity of the test fluid serves as a guideline. It is widely known that ensuring measurement accuracy and linearity becomes very difficult when the viscosity is lower than the test viscosity at shipment, which poses a challenge. Therefore, many users implement measures such as linearization corrections, especially at low viscosity and low flow rates. The KRAL screw meter is calibrated at 5 mm²/s, equivalent to diesel oil, and can be used at high temperatures without correction. KRAL is a flow meter manufacturer capable of performing ISO/IEC 17025 calibrations (ILAC MRA certification). It is also used as a standard instrument (master meter) for flow meter calibration.
