Significant cost reduction in hot water pipes at a 5-star hotel with red rust prevention device "NMR Pipe Protector"

The NMR Pipe Protector is adopted not only in Japan but also in various important facilities around the world. At the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London, galvanized steel pipes (SGP) were used for the hot water supply. Galvanized steel pipes have a short lifespan of about 10 to 20 years, and red rust was occurring within the hotel's hot water supply pipes, resulting in poor water hygiene. While the standard value for iron content in water based on the UK's water quality regulations is 0.2 mg/l, the iron content in the hotel's hot water supply pipes was 13.35 mg/l. This value significantly exceeds the standard, highlighting the seriousness of the situation. With the NMR Pipe Protector, the iron content in the hot water supply pipes was reduced to below 0.2 mg/l. The NMR Pipe Protector utilizes free electrons in water, known as hydration electrons, to reduce the red rust that forms inside the pipes to black rust. Extend the lifespan of piping! Case study of the "NMR Pipe Protector" introduced at Christ's College, Cambridge University.

Christ's College, Cambridge University, originated from God's House, which was established in 1437, and was rebuilt and opened as Christ's College in 1505 at nearly the same location. It is also famous for producing numerous notable alumni, including Charles Darwin, the author of "On the Origin of Species." The university's air conditioning hot water piping has been troubled by issues related to red rust internally, and although sacrificial anodes were introduced in 2008 as a countermeasure, the progression of red rust did not stop. Additionally, an anti-corrosion agent was applied annually, but there was no change in the iron content of the water before and after its use, raising concerns about the agent's impact on human health. Therefore, to remove red rust and single-celled bacteria while maintaining the strength of the piping, an NMR pipe protector was installed on July 31, 2013, in the air conditioning hot water piping (return pipe) of the Todd Building on the university campus. The iron content in the water, which was 43.81 mg/l before installation, dropped to 17.95 mg/l three weeks after installation. As October arrived and the air conditioning hot water system operated at full capacity, the levels continued to decrease, reaching 0.5195 mg/l by August 5, 2014, 52 weeks after installation, which is about one-eighty of the original level.

Extending the lifespan of piping! Case study of the "NMR Pipe Protector" at City, University of London.

London City University, located in North London, is one of the famous universities in the city. It uses SGP for its air conditioning hot water piping, and the pipes in buildings over 40 years old were experiencing red rust corrosion. To completely protect the piping from red rust corrosion, NMR pipe protectors were installed. Before installation, the iron content in the water due to red rust was 3.407 mg/l, but two weeks after installation, the iron content decreased to 0.084 mg/l. This demonstrated that the NMR pipe protectors prevented the occurrence of new red rust in the pipes and reduced existing red rust to inert black rust. The water supply piping made of galvanized steel pipes with a statutory useful life of 15 years has been extended for 42 years until it is 57 years old!

This property has been in existence for 37 years, and due to the use of SGP (galvanized steel pipes) for the water supply pipes, there has been an occurrence of red water. Additionally, updating the piping requires a huge cost, and the necessary water outage work during the piping update could not be carried out due to business operations within the building, making it impossible to repair the piping. The air conditioning chilled and hot water piping installed throughout the famous bookstore building in Shinjuku was at risk of deterioration due to red rust. In 2005, 41 years after its construction, a "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed on a 200A diameter pipe before the heat source pump to prevent the deterioration of red rust in the piping and convert it to black rust, thereby extending the lifespan of the piping to match the lifespan of the building. The hot water supply piping in this office building uses galvanized steel pipes (SGP pipes) as the piping material, and serious red water due to corrosion deterioration occurred throughout the building. In August 1998, an "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed in the cooling water circulation piping of the welding robot cooling line located within a major automobile manufacturer’s factory in Fukuoka Prefecture to prevent red rust scale.
