Advance Riko Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, President: Narifumi Gonotake) has developed a thickness-direction thermoelectric property evaluation device called "ZEM-d," which can evaluate the Seebeck coefficient and electrical resistivity in the thickness direction. Sales will begin in April 2019. This device enables the measurement of thermoelectric properties of anisotropic materials, such as organic thermoelectric materials, in a consistent direction.

ULVAC Riko Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, President: Narifumi Gonote) has developed a high-temperature lamp annealing device "HT-RTA59HD" equipped with a high-power spot-type infrared gold image furnace that can heat small samples of expensive materials such as SiC and other high melting point materials, and will begin sales in November 2014. It is a tabletop ultra-high-temperature lamp annealing device capable of heating up to 1800°C in 10 seconds.

Alvac Riko Co., Ltd. will begin selling the systems "Spica," "Antares," and "Leonis," which evaluate the activity (vitality) and dynamics (growth rate) of microorganisms by measuring the "calorific value" emitted by microbial cells. These systems allow for the non-destructive simultaneous observation of many samples with significantly less effort compared to traditional methods such as agar culture and turbidity measurement, which observe microorganisms in a static state. They are characterized by their ability to dynamically capture information and quantitatively understand it. For those conducting research involving microorganisms, such as food spoilage and fermentation, the antibacterial effects of preservatives on liquids/solids, soil environments and contamination, waste disposal, wastewater treatment, and cultivation, it is expected that using this system will lead to reductions in cost, time, and effort, while also providing valuable insights to aid in research and development.
