To prevent explosions caused by the use of motors in explosive atmospheres, it is necessary to use explosion-proof electrical equipment that meets the standards specified by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

The structure of Nidec's pressure-resistant explosion-proof motors takes the following into consideration: - A strong structure with increased thickness of parts compared to standard applications. - Dimensions and precision of gaps and depths at fitting parts, joints, and shaft penetration areas according to explosion ratings. - Bolts are designed with a locking structure that cannot be loosened with standard wrenches or pliers, preventing disassembly by anyone other than specialists, as opening the container would result in loss of explosion-proof performance. - The temperature rise on the surface of the container that may come into contact with explosive gases is kept below specified temperatures according to their ignition levels. The structure of Nidec's increased safety explosion-proof motors considers the following: - The temperature rise limit of the winding is kept lower than usual according to the temperature rating. - The creepage distance and insulation space distance are set to larger values than standard. - The bolts on the terminal box cover are designed with a locking structure to prevent disassembly by anyone other than specialists. - The temperature rise in areas that may come into contact with explosive gases is kept below specified temperatures according to their ignition levels. - The allowable restraint time is 7 to 10 seconds. Allowable restraint time: The time until the temperature rise, when the rotor of the motor is restrained and rated voltage at rated frequency is applied to the stator, reaches the temperature rise limit specified according to the motor's heat resistance class and temperature rating.
