"Ky Technical Report" is a technical document that publishes technical information and special responses related to the manufacturing operations conducted by K-Y Electronics. In issue No. 030, we introduce "About Circuit Board Cleaning (1)." After soldering, eutectic products and cleaning-designated products undergo a precise cleaning process known as "flux cleaning." The alternative refrigerant HCFC-225, "Asahi Clean AK-225," used in flux cleaning, has been legally mandated to be discontinued for sale by the end of 2019. This document includes considerations using data and tables regarding cleaning agents and cleaning equipment that can replace alternative refrigerant cleaning. [Contents] ■ About Circuit Board Cleaning / Cleaning Agent Asahi Clean AK-225 ■ Reference Figure 1 "Types and Uses of Refrigerant Gases" ■ Reference Figure 2 "HCFC Reduction Targets in Our Country" ■ Summary of Refrigerants and Alternative Refrigerants *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the insertion process that K.Y. Electronic Industries is working on. In the case of repeat production, we conduct a review of past production issues and the effectiveness of countermeasures as part of our preparation. For new production, we create insertion instruction documents using dedicated software. We also prepare standard work instructions that outline important points to note for each section. [Overview] <In the case of repeat production> ■ Confirmation of past production issues - Production process transfer slips - Process defect data ■ Confirmation of the effectiveness of countermeasures - Defect countermeasures *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the solder dip process that K-Y Electronics is working on. Our company maintains uniformity for each lot by documenting the solder conditions for each product in the product file. For flux management, we use a spray method for both eutectic and PBF, and we also implement uniformity in concentration and quantity. 【Method】 ■ Both sides of the W reflow substrate are masked and use solder DIP fixtures. ■ Avoid hand soldering. ■ Achieve uniform solder rise through DIP. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the post-assembly soldering process that K.Y. Electronics is working on. In traditional methods, components were attached using manual soldering by operators, but we have implemented automatic soldering by machines to stabilize the soldering process. Furthermore, our company addresses the issue of quality instability associated with manual soldering (operator skill) through various robotic soldering devices. 【Features】 ■ Point soldering performed under individual conditions through programming ■ Point application of flux using a spray fluxer ■ Transition from traditional manual soldering processes to machine soldering processes ■ Soldering is also possible on three-dimensional structured circuit boards *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the quality assurance efforts of K.Y. Electronics. Our company efficiently allocates workers responsible for preventing defective products from being released. Additionally, we can accommodate electrical inspections upon request. In the final inspection process, we utilize image inspection equipment to check for missing parts, constants, directions, etc., conducting inspections on all products (excluding prototypes). Furthermore, we can perform short tests on the power supply section and output confirmations of the DC power supply section (to detect issues such as internal shorts in SMT-type DC-DC converters) upon request. 【Overview】 <Quality Assurance for DIS Components: Modifications and Inspections> ■ Efficient allocation of workers responsible for preventing defective product release ■ Inspection line that does not overlook a single detail (shipping inspection) ■ Issuance of shipping inspection reports ■ Post-assembly and modification line by certified solderers (in-process inspection) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationRecently, we received a notification from a capacitor manufacturer that they will discontinue the production of components including 1005 size. It seems that ordering for the 1005 size is still possible, but it is clear that production will eventually be halted. Given this situation, we are increasingly being asked by various companies, "Is the 0603 implementation okay?" Our company is equipped to handle 0603 implementations and utilizes our own production management system (SMT), which allows for the progress and delivery management to be visualized, enabling real-time confirmation. [Contents] ■ What level of component is 0603? ■ Precautions for 0603 mounted boards ■ Summary *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationAs a result of our focus on small-lot production and production of various types, we are currently producing 400 to 500 models per month (counting multiple units of the same model in a lot). Previously, we managed production using Excel and other tools, but as the number of models increased, it became difficult to operate. Therefore, since the fiscal year 2016, we have been using a self-developed production management system. This document introduces how we operate the system using screenshots. [Contents] ■ Overview of the system *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

Free membership registrationThe "Ky Technical Report" is a technical document that publishes technical information and special responses related to the manufacturing operations conducted by K-Y Electronics. In issue No. 025, we introduce the '3D Image Inspection Device' that was introduced in 2017. Our company previously conducted 100% inspection after the SMT process using a 2D image inspection machine (Omron RNS-VT-L). While the detection capability for un-soldered joints is very high with this equipment, it is a testing method that struggles to detect issues such as components/leads lifting or misalignment, which is why we introduced a 3D inspection device. Defects such as "the joint is made, but the lead is lifted, resulting in insufficient strength" can now be detected through our inspections. [Strengths] ■ Lifting ■ Tilt ■ Foreign matter ■ Solder height *Conditions apply *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
