The first in the domestic industry: Emergency LED lighting fixtures that can be used in explosion-proof areas Launch of explosion-proof emergency LED lighting fixtures (VZAA series) We have launched the first explosion-proof emergency LED lighting fixtures in the domestic industry that can be installed in explosion-proof areas where there is a risk of explosion or fire due to flammable gases or combustible liquids. Currently, emergency lighting fixtures specified by the Building Standards Act are limited to "incandescent lamps" and "fluorescent lamps," and the use of LEDs as emergency light sources has not been permitted. Therefore, while there have been LED emergency lighting fixtures that received certification based on the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's certification system and passed the self-assessment of emergency lighting fixtures by the Japan Lighting Manufacturers Association, they could not be used in explosion-proof areas where there is a risk of explosion or fire. In response to the many voices wishing for the use of LED as an emergency light source even in explosion-proof areas, we have developed explosion-proof emergency LED lighting fixtures that have passed type testing from the Japan Industrial Safety and Health Association, received certification from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and display the JIL mark from the Japan Lighting Manufacturers Association, making us the first in the domestic industry to do so. Orders will begin on September 15, 2016. Since the JIL mark is affixed to the product, the building confirmation process can continue smoothly as before.

The moisture-proof and waterproof emergency LED lighting fixtures (VYAA and VYBA series) comply with protection rating IP55 and can be installed in indoor environments where dust is generated or in outdoor environments without a roof. The inherent energy consumption efficiency is 142 lm/W (*1), achieving one of the highest energy efficiencies in the industry for waterproof emergency LED lighting fixtures. Additionally, by offering two types of body materials—stainless steel for the LYAA series and steel plate for the LYBA series—we provide a total of 160 models with a rich variety of products, allowing you to choose the optimal model according to the installation location. Separate from the light source that operates normally, the emergency light source, which lights up during a power outage using a built-in rechargeable battery, is consolidated at the end of the fixture. When installed in the same area as the moisture-proof and waterproof LED fixtures (LYAA and LYBA series), the design can be unified. Furthermore, the installation spacing during emergency lighting can be wider than that of conventional light sources (fluorescent lamps), allowing for a reduction in the number of installations. The "Joint Box with Internal Wiring" (SBJA Series) has a protection rating equivalent to IP68 against water and dust, making it an optimal structure for the humid environment inside poles. It comes with pre-wired connections, ensuring safety and ease of connection, while also allowing for easy inspection. The breaker and terminal block are sealed within the box, protecting the electrical wiring from moisture and water droplets that may accumulate inside the pole. Additionally, the top cover can be opened for voltage and insulation resistance measurements. This product incorporates the resin bonding technology "AKI-Lock" developed by Polyplastics Co., Ltd. It utilizes a new technology that enables the bonding of different types of resins and between resin and rubber, which was difficult with conventional methods, resulting in improved waterproof performance compared to previous models.

Regarding high-pressure mercury lamps for general lighting, regardless of the mercury content, manufacturing and import/export will be prohibited after December 31, 2020. Therefore, a planned transition to metal halide lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps, and LED lighting is necessary. There are no regulations on continued use for repair and replacement, but mercury lamps and lighting fixtures that use them will be rapidly replaced with high-efficiency LED lighting fixtures. As a result, the market stock of mercury lamps will diminish. Before mercury lamps are phased out, it is essential to promptly establish a planned update for LED lighting fixtures.
