3D bioprinting enables 'anyone can do' three-dimensional culture.

Highly flexible 3D bioprinting! Featuring a bio 3D printer with cell ink.

Cell culture, which is essential in fields such as regenerative medicine, oncology using stem cells, drug discovery, and toxicity evaluation, is still predominantly conducted in two-dimensional cultures. However, some may wonder if conducting experiments in three dimensions, similar to the cells themselves and the surrounding environment in vivo, would allow for a more faithful study of cell behavior. In this document, we introduce the importance of three-dimensional culture and our company's 3D bioprinting technology, as discussed with our application specialists. We encourage you to read it. [Contents (partial)] - Highly flexible 3D bioprinting - Usable even by beginners, allowing for plenty of trial and error - Extrusion printer BIO X - Light-curing bioprinting LUMEN X+ *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Case: Printing of vascularized skin

Developed a bio-ink composed of human endothelial cells, human pericytes, and animal collagen, and printed the structure.

Current artificial skin graft products promote wound healing, but they ultimately detach because they do not integrate with the patient's skin tissue. The lack of a functional vascular system in artificial grafts poses a significant barrier. We have developed a bioink composed of human endothelial cells, human pericytes, and animal collagen, allowing us to print these structures using the "CELLINK BIO X" and a temperature-controlled print head. This combination of critical elements enables cells to initiate communication and begin forming vascular structures with characteristics similar to biological blood vessels within weeks. Once the vessels are formed, they can exchange nutrients and waste, sustaining the survival of the graft. [Overview] ■ Institution: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute ■ Challenge: The lack of a functional vascular system in artificial grafts is a significant barrier ■ Solution: Using CELLINK BIO X and a temperature-controlled print head ■ Results - Begin forming vascular structures with characteristics similar to biological blood vessels within weeks - Once vessels are formed, they can exchange nutrients and waste, maintaining the survival of the graft *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Example] Bio-printed heart tissue tailored to the patient.

Introducing bio-printing technology for 3D heart models designed for personalized medicine and transplantation.

In Dr. Carmine Gentile's laboratory in Sydney, research is being conducted to develop bio-printed heart tissue using patient-specific cells to minimize the risk of transplant rejection. In a 2020 study, mouse cells were bio-printed using alginate-gelatin hydrogel with CELLINK's "BIO X." The bio-printed heart cells were cultured for 7 to 14 days until they developed into pulsating patches of heart tissue. During open-heart surgery on mice from which the cells were derived, the vascularized heart patches were transplanted into the damaged areas of the heart. The transplantation aimed to test the safety of the bio-printed patches and confirm their positive effects on heart function, both of which were validated. [Summary] - Facility: Dr. Carmine Gentile's laboratory in Sydney - Challenge: Development of bio-printed heart tissue - Results: - Safety of the bio-printed patches - Positive effects on heart function *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.*

[Seminar] New Defense Business Created by AI and Automation

  • NEW
  • SEMINAR_EVENT

[Lecturers] Daisuke Tateno, Partner, Arthur D. Little Japan K.K. Akihiro Nagayama, Principal [Key Lecture Content] Drones, AI, software, satellites, and electronic warfare are fundamentally changing the way wars are fought, and the defense industry is currently transitioning from a heavy and traditional model to one centered around AI, software, data, and unmanned systems. In the United States, emerging companies like Palantir and Anduril, which are software-driven, are challenging existing defense firms. In Japan, structural changes are beginning with the Defense Capability Development Plan, the Defense Industry Base Strengthening Act, and the entry of startups. This seminar will discuss the changes in the global security environment and industrial structure, the strategies of advanced players both domestically and internationally, and the areas where Japanese companies can succeed, including dual-use, collaboration with software companies, M&A and alliances, and talent strategies. We will consider how to view change not as a threat but as a growth opportunity, and how to construct a new Japanese defense industry from a management perspective.

  • NEW
  • SEMINAR_EVENT

[Speaker] Kazuki Miyamoto, Representative/Analyst, VentureClef, USA [Key Lecture Content] The frontier model in the United States is evolving at an unexpected speed. AI agents based on the frontier model have completely transformed business forms in companies. Chinese companies are developing large-scale open source projects, and their performance is approaching that of the U.S. model. Meanwhile, U.S. companies have begun developing open source, leading to a direct confrontation between the U.S. and China. The seminar will examine the frontier models of both countries and explain the latest technologies and important trends. It will organize points on how Japanese companies should perceive the U.S.-China AI development competition from technological and business perspectives. It will also consider strategies for companies to succeed in the AI era, including the differentiation between the U.S. and Chinese models, as well as the advantages and challenges of open source versus closed source. [Lecture Items] <1> Frontier Model (USA) <2> Frontier Model (China) <3> Technology Trends and AI Strategies for Japanese Companies <4> Q&A
