[Speaker]
Kiyoshi Sugawara, Partner Attorney at Matsuda Comprehensive Law Office, Leader of the Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Legal Team
[Key Lecture Content]
Due to changes in fishing ground environments (such as rising sea temperatures caused by climate change), a decrease and aging of fishers, and overfishing, Japan's fishery production has significantly declined. From the perspective of food security, there is a demand for transformation into a next-generation fishery industry (smart fishery) utilizing advanced technologies such as ICT and IoT. This lecture serves as an introductory overview of smart fisheries, highlighting areas where smart fisheries initiatives are being implemented through case studies, and providing an outline of the essential aspects of fishery law that should be understood when developing services related to fishery businesses.
