[Key Lecture Content]
The global demand for data centers (DC) is rapidly increasing against the backdrop of generative AI and video streaming. However, in urban areas, a shortage of land, electricity, and even water for cooling has led to a situation where supply cannot keep up. In response to this structural challenge, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines proposes the provision of new digital infrastructure essential to society through a floating data center (FDC) modified from used ships. By combining one of the world's largest fleets with the knowledge and networks cultivated through FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) and power generation ship businesses, we aim to provide seamless services from power supply to data center operation, creating new value in a growing market.
