[Key Lecture Content]
In recent years, there has been a growing recognition that the loss of biodiversity and the degradation of natural capital have serious impacts on corporate activities and financial markets, leading to an international call for a transition to a "nature-positive economy." A nature-positive economy is one that contributes to halting and reversing the loss of biodiversity in order to put nature back on a recovery trajectory.
In this lecture, we will first outline the background and then provide an overview of policy trends in Japan. Furthermore, we will present related trends in the financial market, particularly among institutional investors, and outline the framework of the TNFD (Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) along with notable examples of information disclosure and initiatives from companies both domestically and internationally.
