With the rapid increase in demand for data centers and communication networks, photonic-electronic convergence is gaining attention as a next-generation foundational technology that is energy-efficient and high-speed, bringing significant transformation to the semiconductor, ICT, and infrastructure industries. We will discuss the background of the growing interest in photonic-electronic convergence, trends in the global market and domestic developments including NTT, and the challenges of standardization and mass production, while presenting the market opportunities that photonic-electronic convergence opens up.
