[Key Lecture Content]
As the decarbonization of power sources through the expansion of renewable energy in the power generation sector is rapidly advancing worldwide, expectations for hydrogen are rising, particularly in industrial sectors where electrification cannot provide a solution. In Japan, the Hydrogen Society Promotion Law has been enacted, and large-scale support projects for hydrogen procurement and infrastructure development have begun. However, there are also uncertainties regarding its realization, such as the slowdown in Europe, which has been ahead in this area, and policy shifts in the United States.
Considering these global trends, this lecture will explore the positioning and role of hydrogen in Japan's energy policy, taking into account the challenges and looking ahead to future possibilities.
