[Key Lecture Content]
For many years, Japan's defense industry was considered a "non-profitable" sector, but it has suddenly come into the spotlight and is now positioned as part of the growth strategy. On the other hand, the needs for equipment development for the Self-Defense Forces, which is its original purpose, are rapidly changing, and the technologies required of companies are entering a new era.
What direction will Japan's "defense industry policy," which includes multifaceted intentions such as the pursuit of sustained combat capability and trends, as well as industrial policy, take? Additionally, what barriers exist? I will discuss these topics.
