[Key Lecture Content]
LNG, which was seen as surplus a few years ago due to the commencement of new LNG projects in Australia and the United States, has undergone a significant transformation in perspective. This change is driven by the emergence of a special demand for LNG equivalent to the annual import volume of Russian natural gas (11.4 million tons in LNG terms) in European countries, as well as the increase in LNG demand due to economic growth in Asian countries, including China. It is now expected that the supply-demand tightness of LNG will continue until around 2030. With Western oil majors withdrawing from Russian projects such as Sakhalin-2 and Arctic LNG 2, the risks associated with Russian LNG projects, including Sakhalin-2, are increasing. What will be the future trends of new LNG projects in the United States, Qatar, UAE, Mozambique, Canada, and Indonesia? This lecture will clearly explain the outlook for LNG prices in 2026 and the business opportunities for Japanese companies related to new LNG projects in the context of decarbonization.
