[Seminar] Five Strategic Shifts and Next Business Opportunities Seen from the Decarbonization Trend
[Lecturer]
Keigo Munakata, Consultant, Environmental, Energy, and Resource Strategy Group, Japan Research Institute, Ltd.
[Key Lecture Content]
Recently, there have been a series of cancellations and withdrawals from large-scale decarbonization projects, marking a significant turning point in the decarbonization trend that has continued to expand since the adoption of the Paris Agreement, shifting from ambitious idealism to a "realistic approach to decarbonization." In Japan, the pace of solar power installation has slowed, and offshore wind and hydrogen projects are facing difficulties, revealing a gap between policy goals and the real economy.
In this lecture, we will take a macro perspective to overview the changes in the decarbonization trend over the past decade and accurately understand the current "deceleration" of the decarbonization trend based on multiple facts. We will then forecast the future of the decarbonization trend and explain practical strategic shifts and upcoming business opportunities that private companies need to adopt to survive, such as tightening investment decisions and expanding adaptive businesses.
