[Seminar] Formation of a Positive Cycle for the Expansion of Solar Power Generation and Panel Resource Recycling
[Speaker]
Mr. Akiho Kawai, Analyst, Materials Team, Industrial Research Department, Mizuho Bank, Ltd.
[Key Lecture Content]
It is anticipated that emissions from solar panels will significantly increase after the 2030s, and the disposal of used solar panels will become a challenge. In April 2026, a cabinet decision was made on the "Bill for Promoting the Recycling of Solar Cell Waste." It is crucial to establish a system for the "proper disposal and resource circulation" of used solar panels while guiding power generation operators towards "proper emissions and enhanced power generation." This dual approach is essential.
In this lecture, I will present an overview of the current situation and challenges, and propose solutions centered on two main axes: guiding towards an ideal state through policies, and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of digital platforms.
