[Seminar] Energy Storage Battery and Power Supply Industry Strategy
[Speaker]
Hiroki Aoki, Director of the Battery Industry Division, Commerce and Information Policy Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
[Key Lecture Content]
Since the formulation of the "Battery Industry Strategy" in August 2022, issues such as excess supply structures in the global market and supply chain risks have become apparent. There is an increasing need to provide comprehensive energy storage solutions in response to the advanced electrical control needs required in AI data centers and medical and disaster prevention sectors, which are expected to grow in the future. The Japanese battery industry must establish a manufacturing base centered around batteries, keeping in mind various competitive axes, including energy density and power density. This lecture will explain the revised "Battery and Power Industry Strategy," which aims to enhance the competitiveness of the entire power system and establish a manufacturing base to capture high value-added markets globally.
