This is a case study of creating a user manual for a new product by reusing existing data. To reflect changes in the equipment in the image data, we borrowed the actual machine, traced it using Adobe Illustrator, and made edits such as text corrections in Adobe InDesign. There were also requests to check and correct parts of the existing data where the Japanese had become strange, as it was edited overseas last time.
This is a case study of a bilingual product manual in Japanese and English. The customer prepared the change instruction manuscript and image files, and we created the manual for a different product by reusing existing files. There was a request to fit both the Japanese and English A4 paper layout onto one page each, which requires subtle layout adjustments due to the inclusion of installation diagrams and product data sheets, depending on the increase or decrease in content.
Seabrain provides English-Japanese translation services and has extensive experience in DTP for creating Japanese versions from translated texts. This case study involved reusing the Japanese version data of a user's guide created by the customer to produce English and Chinese versions. The translation was done by the customer, who provided the translated text in a bilingual file. We created the English and Chinese versions by reusing the existing Japanese version InDesign files.
