The tape substrate market in 2010 appeared to be robust at first glance, with a year-on-year growth of 108.8%. However, in reality, it was a tumultuous and challenging year. The start was very strong, continuing the good performance from the second half of 2009, and even the production in the typically weak first quarter exceeded the previous quarter, showing an unusual level of strength. This trend led to a very favorable first half. However, in reality, inventory began to accumulate, which became evident after the summer. Production in the second half dropped significantly. As a result, prices fell, and profits decreased sharply.
