Schmalz Co., Ltd., a manufacturer specializing in vacuum equipment based in Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama City, has developed the high-precision suction block ISBL-T series as part of its lineup of vacuum suction blocks for NC routers. Schmalz manufactures vacuum suction blocks for processing machines in addition to vacuum equipment for automatic transport. The vacuum suction blocks support the production of processed products by holding and fixing materials, such as wooden boards, from the bottom surface before processing. Because of the retention from the bottom surface, it is possible to process not only the surface of the material but also the sides. The vacuum clamping system IS series allows for the introduction of suction blocks by placing Schmalz-made steel plates on various tables, such as machine tables, grid tables, and flat tables. They can be arranged freely according to the workpiece, eliminating the need for jigs that were previously made for each processed item. The ISBL-T series features vacuum suction blocks with a height accuracy of ±0.06mm, enabling high-precision processing that was not achievable with the previous lineup (height accuracy ±0.15mm), thereby expanding the range of applications. Additionally, mechanical clamps are also available instead of suction retention.
