Like corner cubes, hollow retroreflectors have the function of retroreflecting incident light. The significant difference is that the light path in a corner cube is within glass, whereas the light path in a hollow retroreflector is in air. Because there is no light absorption by glass, it enables retroreflection applications across a wide wavelength range from ultraviolet to far infrared, minimizing the impact on the polarization state of light and chromatic aberration. This product, like the corner cube, is composed of three reflective surfaces, and two types of reflective metal coatings can be selected: a reflection-enhanced aluminum coat with excellent reflection efficiency in the visible range and a gold coat (with a protective film) with superior efficiency in the infrared range.
