The fiber optic intrusion and theft detection sensor unit (FOSS) from Italy's Optosensing is a unique product designed to achieve lower costs and ease of installation and operation by focusing on specific applications and functions compared to existing general-purpose multifunction fiber sensing devices. In addition to standalone use of the basic measurement unit, data collection and transmission units, as well as vibration detection units, are available for system function expansion. It also meets the IP66 dust and water resistance standards, making it particularly effective as a detection sensor for intrusions and theft during non-management hours in various facilities, warehouses, and material storage areas, as well as an early warning sensor for ensuring safety in areas prone to wildlife damage.

The basic measurement unit is equipped with a 2mm outer diameter POF (plastic optical fiber) connected as a sensor, which detects strain caused by external stresses such as breakage, tension, and vibration with high sensitivity and issues alarms. The same unit can connect a loop-type two-line sensor fiber, with a detection distance of up to 200m for each line. (When operating the basic unit alone, the external control signal is limited to relay contact signals, but it is also possible to connect a digital interface in combination with an expansion function unit.)
