The "gas soft nitriding treatment" is a heat treatment that maintains a temperature range of 550 to 600°C in a mixed atmosphere of carburizing gas and NH3 (ammonia), allowing nitrogen and carbon to diffuse into the surface to form carbonitrides, thereby achieving surface hardening. Additionally, because it operates in a temperature range that does not involve changes in metal structure, it results in a treatment that is less prone to deformation and dimensional changes.
