I will explain about the motors of forklifts that are advancing in electrification. 【Battery-powered forklifts】 #Electric forklifts
There are two main types of power sources for forklifts: engine-powered forklifts that use an engine as the power source, and battery-powered forklifts that use a motor as the power source. Regarding the "motor" of battery-powered forklifts, I would like to explain it as simply and clearly as possible. The control methods for the "motor" of battery-powered forklifts include: DC motor control methods (brushed motors) and AC motor control methods (brushless motors). Recently, most battery-powered forklifts have begun to adopt AC motor control methods (alternating current). Benefits of brushless motors in battery-powered forklift motors: - Maintenance is easier because there are no brushes. (Achieving maintenance-free operation) - The number of relay switches is reduced, eliminating operational noise during travel. (Reduction of the traditional clicking sound) - The driving performance feeling is improved. (Smooth acceleration) - High efficiency of the motor can be achieved. And so on.

basic information
The types of "motors" used in battery-powered forklifts are basically drive motors, load handling motors, and power steering motors. Generally, regarding power steering motors, even the latest battery-powered forklifts still use brushed motors. For battery-powered forklifts, the types of power steering motors include EPS (Electric Power Steering) motors and hydraulic motors, but both are brushed motors, so verification during maintenance is necessary. The maintenance of battery-powered forklifts differs significantly from that of engine-powered forklifts, requiring specialized knowledge and skills related to battery-powered forklifts. It seems that various companies are also developing autonomous electric forklifts.
