It enables two-factor authentication for Windows login using a smartphone app. The screen switches between username/password authentication and one-time code authentication. Once the username/password authentication is successful, the screen transitions to one-time code authentication. It will function as a full version once the license file is installed. The license file is tied to the PC hardware and is only valid on the linked PC. There are two types of licenses: non-transferable licenses (do not require internet connection during operation) and transferable licenses. Transferable licenses can be moved to another PC during the license period. Non-transferable licenses remain tied to the PC but do not require an internet connection. GAuthLogon can operate on a standalone PC.

Since no hardware is required, it can be particularly useful for login authentication to remote computers. Authentication using hardware (such as biometrics, tokens, cameras, etc.) requires a reading device connected to the client side. In some cases, reading devices connected to the client side cannot be used for remote computer authentication. For example, it cannot be used when a browser is used on the client side. You can log in with two-factor authentication to a remote computer where GAuthLogon is installed, regardless of what client-side software you are using. It is possible to set up a code input-free configuration for specific client IPs and usernames.
