New Silicon 21R is a high-grade, versatile silicone resin paint that has evolved to an ultimate level by incorporating radical suppression technology and HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers) based on the "New Silicon 21," which boasts unparalleled weather resistance compared to other companies. New Silicon 21R uses titanium dioxide coated with a radical-suppressing coating, and by covering it with a shield, it captures and neutralizes radicals that attempt to break free from the shield using HALS, thereby maintaining gloss and aesthetics over a long period. **What are radicals?** When viewed at the molecular level, a paint film has electrons paired in twos. When strong energy such as ultraviolet light or heat is applied, cracks in the chemical bonds occur, generating radicals that possess only one electron. Radicals are extremely unstable and highly reactive molecular species that, once generated, react in a chain reaction, leading to the degradation of the paint film. Incidentally, the cause of the ozone hole is due to chlorine atom radicals.
