Oragene DISCOVER (Model: OGR-600) is a kit that allows for easy collection of high-quality DNA from saliva. Since it only requires saliva collection, DNA can be obtained safely and easily. This single kit enables DNA collection and long-term storage at room temperature. Additionally, by using the Oragene purification solution (sold separately), DNA can also be extracted and purified. It is recommended for researchers involved in clinical genetic studies, testing, and cohort studies that include not only patients with rare diseases and genetic conditions but also their relatives, especially when sufficient DNA cannot be recovered from oral cells using cotton swabs, or when obtaining consent for blood donation for DNA recovery is difficult. Because it can be safely used by individuals from children to the elderly, it is also utilized for consulting services such as genetic testing.

Non-invasive saliva samples can be collected without harming the body, making it easier to provide DNA samples. Since only saliva is collected, it can be done safely and easily. (This makes it easier to collect DNA from individuals who cannot undergo blood sampling or those who are located far away.) Approximately 110μg (median data) of high-purity DNA can be collected, extracted, and purified from 2ml of saliva. *The amount of DNA may vary between individuals. DNA collection, storage, extraction, and purification can be performed. (Purification solutions are sold separately.) The DNA is primarily derived from white blood cells present in saliva, with a low contamination rate from bacterial DNA, making it suitable for genetic analysis (PCR, SNP analysis, microarray, HLA typing, next-generation sequencing, whole genome-related analysis, etc.). Saliva can be stored at room temperature for several years. (Samples can be sent by mail, and there are no storage costs. Long-term storage at 4°C is not recommended. Please store at room temperature or freeze.) *Oragene tubes are not suitable for freezing conditions, so please transfer the samples to freezing tubes or similar for storage.
