"Plasma nitriding" is a non-combustion heat treatment process where a glow discharge is generated by using the furnace body as the anode and the product as the cathode in a low-pressure nitrogen gas atmosphere. This process produces a soft light similar to a neon sign that envelops the product, heating it with the strong energy of the ions while simultaneously nitriding it. Additionally, Taiyo Metal Industry has developed a rust-resistant stainless steel called 'TAIYO3S Nite' with a hardened layer of over 800 HV after three years of research and development.
