Protocol analyzer for I3C, I2C, SPI, and UART. In logic analyzer mode, you can view both digital and analog waveforms, making it very powerful.
The MSO2008E is a high-performance protocol analyzer and 8-channel logic analyzer for I3C, I²C, SPI, and UART (RS232C) buses (supports analysis of 100 types of protocols, with analog input included). ■ In Pro Analyzer mode, you can select one from I2C, I3C, SPI, or UART and simply start capturing and displaying the decoded data sequentially. Filter and statistical functions can be used in conjunction. Depending on the communication content, there is also an option to directly log files to an SSD or stop capturing with a trigger. ■ In Logic Analyzer mode, you can trigger and capture bus data, and after stopping, it displays the digital waveform and decoded data of the protocol (standard support for 100 types). If you use the analog input, you can also display the analog waveform. The ability to capture and analyze multiple buses simultaneously, along with the capability to obtain analog waveforms, is very powerful during debugging. ■ Powered by USB 3.0 bus power, this portable MSO2K allows you to check both digital and analog waveforms, making it suitable for microcontroller development, debugging, remote work, and support applications on the go.

basic information
MSO2008E is a portable tool that connects to a Windows PC via USB 3.0. It has three functions: protocol analyzer, logic analyzer, and a simple DSO. There are two operating modes: pro analyzer mode and logic analyzer mode, both of which can perform protocol analysis. ■ Protocol Analyzer Mode It can capture and sequentially decode and display the protocol for one of the buses: I2C, I3C, SPI, or UART (RS232). You can view the captured data without stopping the capture. This feature is particularly useful during software development. ■ Logic Analyzer (and Simple DSO) Mode It can be used as an 8-channel input logic analyzer. After stopping the capture, it displays digital waveforms and can show the decoded results of a specified protocol from among 100 types. It has a trigger function, allowing triggers to be set based on data or addresses, especially for I3C, I2C, SPI, and UART. As a general-purpose digital logic analyzer, it has a maximum sampling rate of 2 GHz (when using 8 channels). The analog sampling rates are a maximum of 200 MHz (for 1 channel) and 25 MHz (for 8 channels).

Applications/Examples of results
The pro-analyzer mode of this tool is a convenient operating mode for easily capturing and analyzing a large amount of communication data on reliable hardware. The logic analyzer mode is useful for capturing rare phenomena using triggers and allows you to check waveforms (timing) and protocols after stopping, making it valuable for more detailed debugging. In logic analyzer mode, you can fully utilize the channels. For example, with I2C, you can capture and analyze up to four buses simultaneously. Combinations such as I2C and SPI, or I2C and GPIO are also acceptable. By using the DSO function in conjunction, you can capture I2C and analog signals from sensor inputs, as well as power voltage, simultaneously. In the protocol decoding of the logic analyzer mode, you can decode one bus with multiple protocols. You can also capture and verify the waveforms of logic and power simultaneously using the DSO function in logic analyzer mode, such as the power-on sequence to the LSI.
