If the parallelism between the rollers is not maintained, a difference in tension occurs in the width direction, resulting in diagonal wave-like wrinkles (troughs) in relation to the direction of the substrate's movement. Additionally, when transporting thinner films, if the transport tension is set to a level similar to that of thicker films, the film stretches in the transport direction, causing wave-like wrinkles parallel to the transport direction. These wave-like wrinkles can create fold wrinkles when passing through the rollers, significantly reducing the product value of the film. ■Reduction of Wrinkles Using Concave Rollers Concave rollers are rollers with a reverse crown shape, where the center is narrower and the ends are thicker. Compared to the center, the outer diameter increases towards the ends, resulting in a higher peripheral speed. The film tends to move towards the ends where the peripheral speed is higher. Additionally, the film has a tendency to enter the downstream roller axis at a right angle. These two effects cause the film to widen, thereby reducing wrinkles.
