The coastline is formed by numerous peninsulas, capes, bays, and inlets, with a total coastline length of 4,171 km (as of March 31, 2019), ranking second in the nation after Hokkaido (first if excluding the Northern Territories). Given this geographical situation, the Nagasaki Prefectural Police considered the introduction of a video conferencing system aimed at improving the workplace environment by streamlining operations through reduced travel time and burden for attending various meetings, reviewing work styles by conducting tasks previously done at distant workplaces at nearby police stations, and strengthening the security system during natural disasters such as typhoons.
