Report on the installation of lubrication systems for wind power plant gearboxes. For the safety and reliability of fluid systems in environments such as offshore, where regular inspections are difficult.
A Magnum has been adopted for the lubrication line of a 750 kW generator's gearbox located in Sweden. A Magnom Clear 5" was installed downstream of a 10-micron existing filter, and after six months of normal operation, when the internal core was removed, a significant amount of contamination, including metal wear particles as small as 0.2 microns, was found, surprising those involved. Such fine metal contamination can trigger a wear chain in the gearbox, demonstrating the performance of the Magnum filter, which can efficiently and safely remove it. Wind power is gaining attention as one of the measures for SDGs because it can convert approximately 30-40% of the kinetic energy of wind into electrical energy, making it relatively efficient and difficult to emit greenhouse gases. However, due to the difficulty of regular inspections depending on the installation location (such as offshore), the safety and reliability of fluid systems are particularly important.

basic information
- Removal of fine particles is possible Magnum uses a filter with magnets, allowing it to capture fine magnetic particles (submicron: 10μm to 0.07μm) that cannot be removed by filters using filter paper or mesh like cartridge filters. - No clogging Due to its structure, which sandwiches the magnets between special plates, it does not block the flow path in the area where iron powder is captured. Therefore, despite being able to capture fine particles, it does not clog at all. Additionally, because it does not clog, there is no pressure loss, and even if the capacity for capture reaches its limit, it does not hinder the operation of the device. - Strong capturing power By sandwiching the magnets with a yoke plate, the magnetic flux is enhanced, resulting in a significant difference in the capturing power of iron powder compared to simple magnetism. Conventional magnetic filters can only capture contaminants from liquids close to the magnet, but Magnum efficiently removes iron powder and other contaminants from the liquid. - No re-release Captured contaminants are accumulated in a separate, powerful collection area away from the flow path. There is no risk of dangerous phenomena, such as the re-release of contaminants that have been captured and solidified, which can occur with regular magnetic filters as the magnetic force weakens with distance from the magnet.
