For precise and distortion-free cutting.
The preparation of metal microstructure samples usually begins with the cutting (sectioning) of the samples. In most cases, the parts or solids to be inspected are too large for the grinding and polishing required for metallographic examination under laboratory conditions, so they must be cut beforehand. By using commercially available portable grinders or polishers, this cutting process can sometimes be eliminated. Depending on the shape of the parts, the hardness of the materials, and the analytical methods used, various cutting techniques and consumables are employed.
