There are cases where finding the optimal solution in 1D simulation for the movements used in the factory has resulted in a 10-20% reduction in CO2 emissions. Since moving larger parts, such as those in automobiles, generates more CO2 emissions than moving smaller parts, even a 10% reduction translates to a significantly larger impact in terms of the tons of CO2 reduced.
