Hallite 831 is a single lip snap-in rod wiper. To enhance stability within the groove, ribs are formed on the inner diameter. It prevents the possibility of blowout due to trapped pressure between the wiper and rod seal. A crush lip is incorporated into the outer circumference of the seal, providing an appropriate amount of compression against the bottom surface of the wiper groove. A face piece is provided to ensure that the crush lip does not catch on the corners of the groove. These features help prevent the intrusion of contaminants into the groove.
