We would like to introduce a case where we received a design request for a disc spring to be used in far-infrared detectors mounted on artificial satellites and scientific observation balloons. The disc spring was intended to be used to apply pressure to an element made of a certain material, with a requirement to have an outer diameter of less than 3mm (an extremely small size for a spring). Although manufacturing to such a small size was extremely challenging, the spring was completed and delivered according to the proposed specifications.
