Measures against electrical corrosion for ships! Shaft grounding - Propeller shaft earthing.
Electrolytic corrosion prevention for the ship's bearings, gearbox, shaft, and propeller shaft!
The rotating propeller shaft of the ship is electrically insulated from the hull by the use of a lubricating oil film within metal bearings or non-metal bearing materials. A potential is formed between the propeller and the hull, resulting in a current that returns to the hull through the gearbox. In this situation, a large current flows through the bearings and gearbox, causing these components to suffer from pitting and damaging the bearings, gearbox, and shaft. Schunk's grounding system prevents these phenomena.
