Measurements are taken using images captured from multiple directions with a high-precision digital camera. The three-dimensional coordinates of the measurement points (where targets are affixed) are accurately calculated using computer software.

> High Precision Measurements can be taken with an accuracy of 1/100,000. For objects of 3 m in size, the accuracy is 25 to 50 μm. For objects of 10 m, it is approximately 100 μm. It is also possible to achieve an accuracy of 50 μm by dividing a 10 m object into two parts and capturing images every 5 m. (Note 1) > Measurement in Narrow Spaces, with Obstacles, and Simultaneous Measurement of Inner and Outer Surfaces OK! Measurements can be taken in confined spaces, such as plants, where measurement has been difficult in the past, as long as the shooting distance is over 1 m. Obstacles in the way can be circumvented during shooting. Additionally, it is possible to measure both the inner and outer surfaces of structures simultaneously. > Data Processing in a Short Time After shooting, data processing is performed on a computer, and the processing time typically takes about 1 to 2 hours to obtain results (coordinate values). (Note 2) > Comparison with Other 3D Measurement Devices Compared to contact-type 3D measurement devices, measurements can be taken on-site without moving the object. It can also measure objects that are too large for contact-type measurements. Compared to total stations, there is no need to fix the device, allowing for handheld shooting. Measurement time is less than half. (Note 3)
