Induction heating (IH) is a non-contact heating method that uses no flames to heat conductive materials such as metals and carbon. By generating eddy currents in the heating target, the oscillated output is directly consumed as self-heating due to Joule heating on the workpiece. This allows for rapid temperature rise at a pace that is difficult to achieve with indirect heating through heat conduction from a heat source like flames. The time required to reach the target temperature is determined by the balance of the material and size of the target, the target temperature, the heating range, and the output of the induction heating power supply used.
